| A Meeting in Central, 2008 Video with sound, Atlas, Photographs When two people, situated in two places on different sides of the world, look up at the sky towards the same point, say the the moon, the sun, or the Polaris, at the same time, their extended gazes will cross up there in the sky, or perhaps in outer space: when their gazes meet, it is almost like they are looking at each other. This piece is an attempt to meet my brother, whom I have not seen for four years. |
Installation view at the Zürich University of the Arts, May - June 2008 On 29th March, 2008 at circa 08:15 GMT, my brother and I each went to the place called Central in our respective habitat.
We met each other over the northern sky of Central:
We spoke on the phone, and filmed the sky at the same time, 08:18-28 GMT. The original footages of the sky are morphed together, and the ambient sound of the two cities are twisted, extended, shrunk, resonated, remixed together into a new soundtrack symbolizing this reunion in mid air: (link to file) |
